I was a passenger on a Kawasaki motorcycle.  The rider lost control of his bike on Rt. 313 in Quakertown, PA during a rainstorm resulting in a motorcycle accident.  Can my automobile insurance policy pay for my medical expenses?

• No.  Under PA Law, passengers are treated the same way as riders.  Therefore, your car insurance company can not pay your medical bills.

A car pulled out in front of my Harley on Rt. 202 in Doylestown, PA causing the motorcycle accident.  Who will pay for my medical bills if I can't use my car insurance coverage?

When does the PA Vehicle Code make the use of a helmet by a passenger on a motorcycle mandatory?

• When the passenger is under the age of 21.

Two Gold Wing Honda motorcycles were riding side by side on Rt. 309 near Lansdale, PA when there was a motorcycle accident.  Is it legal for two motorcycle riders to operate their motorcycles in the same travel lane?

• Yes.  The Pennsylvania Vehicle Code does permit two motorcycles to be driven two abreast in the same lane.

Can an ATV driver legally drive their ATV on a public street or highway?

• It is illegal to operate an all-terrain vehicle on a public road unless 1 of 2 very specific exceptions exists:
  • A government agency specifically permits it in a delcared state of emergency, or
  • Crossing a public street or highway with strict compliance by the ATV operator with four specific requirements set forth in the PA Vehicle Code.

Monroe County & Bucks County, PA

$130,000.00

A couple from the Quakertown, PA area were involved in a terrible motorcycle accident in the Pocono Mts.  They were on their Harley on Rt. 611 above Stroudsburg, PA when a car went through a stop sign and broadsided them.

The female motorcycle accident victim was thrown off of their Hog and lost consciousness.  She was taken by ambulance to Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.  This motorcycle passenger sustained a fractured rib and fractures to her lumbar vertebrae, as well as a concussion.   Because of the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center where she was an in-patient for 3 days.

Her husband also suffered significant injuries in the crash.  This motorcycle accident victim was taken directly by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Trauma Unit in Allentown.  He was suffering from multiple rib fractures, a clavicle fracture and a wrist injury.

The rider was given general anesthesia and underwent an open reduction and internal fixation of the left distal clavicle fracture.  The surgery included the installation of a plate secured with 5 screws.  The personal injury victim later endured a second surgery to remove the orthopaedic hardware.

A resident of the Pocono Mountains was driving his motorcycle near Tobyhanna, PA when a careless driver caused a motorcycle accident.  The rider was knocked unconscious and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was admitted.

The motorcycle accident victim had a fractured scapula, a shoulder separation and 4 broken ribs.  After he was released, he came under the medical care of an orthopaedic surgeon from Easton, PA and a physical therapist from Monroe County.

The Lehigh County resident was taken by ambulance to the Trauma Center of Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA.  An MRI revealed that she had sustained 2 bulging discs in her low back.  She also suffered a fracture of her left big toe.

Her Allentown orthopaedic specialist started the Lehigh Valley resident on a rigorous course of physical therapy.  The motorcycle accident victim also received multiple steroid injections into her low back.

Attorney Newell obtained the liability policy limit from the Defendant's insurance company.  He also obtained the underinsured motorist limits from two insurance policies which covered the motorcycle accident victim.  The Lehigh Valley resident received $65,000.00 - the maximum insurance benefits possible.

Bucks County, PA

A Quakertown area resident was injured in a motorcycle accident while riding his Harley on Rt. 152 in Chalfont, PA.  A car pulled out in front of him and the driver panicked, stopping his car in the middle of the road.  The rider had no option but to lay his Hog down.

The motorcycle accident victim sustained numerous injuries, including a fractured cervical vertebrae, 2 fractured lumbar vertebrae, a broken nose and road rash.  He was taken by ambulance to a Montgomery County hospital.

Miraculously, the motorcycle owner did not require any surgeries as the fractures healed on their own.  He endured a rigorous regimen of physical therapy from a Bucks County specialist to aid in the healing of his neck and back injuries.

Northampton County, PA
