Attorney Newell Hired by Bucks Pit Bull Attack Victim

Montco Pit Bull Attack Injures Upper Providence Man

A June 15, 2012 report on limerick.patch.com detailed a recent pit bull attack in Royersford PA. A man was leaving a friend’s house when he noticed someone had left the lights of a motorcycle on. When he went to notify the ‘cycle owner, the pit bull broke thru a door and bit him on the wrist.

The Montgomery County PA dog bite victim received medical treatment at Phoenixville Hospital on June 10th. The local Animal Control Officer is investigating. The pit bull was quarantined for 10 days as required by the PA Dog Law.

Rottweiler Killed by Police After it Attacks Officer

On Sunday June 10, 2012, a rottweiler was shot and killed in Philadelphia after it was released to attack a city police officer. According to abclocal.go.com, police were trying to arrest someone when the dog owner showed up and sicced the rottweiler on the Philadelphia police officers.

Another officer shot and killed the rottweiler after it had bitten the cop’s wrist. The rottweiler dog bite victim was treated at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Multiple criminal and PA Dog Law charges are expected.

Pittsburgh Pit Bull Jumps Thru Window & Kills Shih Tzu

A June 6, 2012 article from the PittsburghChannel.com details a horrifying pit bull attack which resulted in the death of a small dog. The pit bull was roaming loose in the Carrick neighborhood of Pittsburgh when it jumped thru a window of a neighbor’s house.

The family’s rottweiler fled the scene and left the Shih Tzu to fend off the attacking pit bull. The small dog died at the scene of the attack. When asked to comment on this unprovoked attack and the whereabouts of the pitbull, its owner said “I got rid of the dog and someone in Florida has it now.” Hopefully he will be charged with numerous PA Dog Law violations.

Attorney Thomas Newell Obtains $92,268.00 Payout for York PA Dog Bite Victim

On June 6, 2012, a York PA rottweiler attack victim received approval from York County Court of Common Pleas to receive a $92,268.00 settlement payout. Last summer, a 2 year-old girl was playing in her backyard. The neighbor’s rottweiler jumped over the 3′ high fence separating the backyards and bit her on the back of the head.

The rottweiler tried to pull the PA dog bite victim over the fence. Only the heroic actions of a family friend prevented a potentially fatal mauling. The girl was treated at Memorial Hospital. Nearly 20 stitches were needed to close the dog bite wounds to her scalp.

The defendants were cited for numerous PA Dog Law violations, including harboring a dangerous dog. The defendants plead guilty to all charges and the rottweiler was put down. Attorney Thomas J. Proposed PA Law to Protect Service Dogs

A May 31 article from triblive.com discussed a bill which passed the Pennsylvania Senate to give further protection to PA’s service dogs. The legislation is now before the PA House of Representatives.

The bill would allow authorities to charge dog owners with a 3rd degree misdemeanor if their dog attacks a service dog and they had knowledge of the dog’s prior vicious propensities. The law includes fines of up to $15,000.00 plus restitution for out-of-pocket expenses for the owners of the service dogs.

Great Dane Mauls Lehigh Valley Boy

A May 24, 2012 article on wfmz.com provided an update on the case of a 5/20/12 Lehigh County dog bite attack that resulted in serious injuries to a 5 year-old boy. Whitehall Township Police reported that a Great Dane attacked the child at a home on Catasauqua Road in Whitehall Township.

The Lehigh Valley dog attack victim was bitten on the neck & throat areas with a substantial loss of blood. He was immediately taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown PA. The Lehigh County Dog Warden is investigating.
