On November 26, 2013, Attorney Newell received a telephone call from the family of an elderly woman whose husky mix sustained serious injuries after being mauled by a pit bull. The innocent victim was relaxing outside her home with the family dog when the vicious pit bull jumped a fence and began the unprovoked attack in Washington County, PA.
A neighbor came over to help and the pit bull turned on him, biting his ankle. Ultimately, the police needed to Taser and then shoot the pit bull to stop the attack. Attorney Newell reviewed the Pennsylvania Dog Law statute with the victim’s family regarding restitution for veterinary expenses.
