On August 24, 2012, Attorney Thomas J. Newell spoke with the sister of an Allegheny County pit bull attack victim. In late July, the woman was walking her dog in McKeesport PA when a pit bull attacked her and the Shih Tzu. The pit bull was being walked by a young boy who could not control it.
The PA dog bite victim suffered a concussion when she hit her head on the street. She also cut her hand which required 15 stitches to close. She still suffers from numbness and tingling in her right hand and remains under her doctor’s care. Her medical expenses are mounting for co-pays and deductibles.
The defendant was charged with violating the PA Dog Law. On July 31, 2012, the defendant was found guilty of failing to confine her pit bull in violations of Section 305 of the PA Dog Law. The District Justice refused to order restitution for the victim’s out-of-pocket medical expenses.
