On Aug. 16, the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas approved a $130,000.00 personal injury settlement for a 4 year-old Rottweiler attack victim. The little girl was at a family party when the homeowner and the rottweiler’s owners left to go watch a football game. The dog was left unrestrained and with full access to the home and all of the guests.
The Lehigh Valley dog bite victim was bitten several times in the face. Surgeons from Lehigh Valley Hospital used approximately 50 stitches to close all of the dog bite wounds. A year later, she underwent scar revision surgery to improve the appearance of her facial scars.
Initially, the homeowner’s insurance companies that represented the defendants refused to make a settlement offer. After the lawsuit was filed and discovery undertaken, the $130,000.00 settlement was agreed to and approved by Judge J. Brian Johnson at the request of Attorney Thomas J. Newell.
