Attorney Thomas Newell Obtains $92,268.00 Payout for York PA Dog Bite Victim

On June 6, 2012, a York PA rottweiler attack victim received approval from York County Court of Common Pleas to receive a $92,268.00 settlement payout. Last summer, a 2 year-old girl was playing in her backyard. The neighbor’s rottweiler jumped over the 3′ high fence separating the backyards and bit her on the back of the head.

The rottweiler tried to pull the PA dog bite victim over the fence. Only the heroic actions of a family friend prevented a potentially fatal mauling. The girl was treated at Memorial Hospital. Nearly 20 stitches were needed to close the dog bite wounds to her scalp.

The defendants were cited for numerous PA Dog Law violations, including harboring a dangerous dog. The defendants plead guilty to all charges and the rottweiler was put down. Attorney Thomas J. Newell was hired to represent the York PA dog attack victim. After he presented substantial evidence of a prior attack and prior vicious propensities by the rottweiler, the defendants’ homeowners insurance company agreed to make the settlement payment approved by Judge Blackwell.
