Are Bicycle Accident Deaths Avoidable?

A 11/5/14 article from philly.com highlighted the fatal consequences that can occur to bicyclists who refuse to wear helmets. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) approximately 1,000 people die each year from bicycle accidents. Head injuries cause nearly 70% of the bicycle accident deaths. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that bicycle helmets reduce head and brain injuries by almost 85%.
