A Jan. 1, 2011 car accident on Toll Road in Chestnuthill Township was the first 2011 fatal accident in Monroe County. According to The Morning Call, a 20 year old driver lost control of her automobile and crashed into some trees adjacent to the Poconos roadway. Her 26 year old passenger was declared dead at the scene of the car wreck by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office. Pennsylvania State Police from Fernridge are investigating the fatal crash.
