On March 16, 2011, a car crash took place on Interstate 78 after 2 drivers began a confrontation on Route 22. According to The Morning Call, a driver from Kutztown and another from Jim Thorpe began jockeying for position on westbound Rt. 22. After they merged onto I-78, the Kutztown PA driver tried to pass the other automobile, but instead collided with that car resulting in an accident.
