On July 26, 2010, a five year-old child was killed in a one-car crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Chester County PA. As described on CBS.com, a woman was driving a minivan in the westbound lanes of I-76 approaching the Morgantown exit when a rear tire apparently suffered a blow-out.
The motor vehicle spun out of control, ultimately landing on its roof. The young child did not have a seatbelt on and was ejected from the minivan. A number of other passengers were injured. The westbound lanes of the PA TPK were shut down for several hours after this tragic accident.
