On Jan. 24, 2012, a motor vehicle crash on Route 54 in Carbon County resulted in severe injuries to the driver of a SUV.  As described on wfmz.com, the driver hit a patch of black ice on Rt. 54.  The SUV spun out of control and hit a school bus head-on as it was traveling in the Nesquehoning area of the roadway.  Fortunately, the only occupant of the school bus was the driver.  The SUV operator was flown to Gesinger Medical Center.
