On June 29, 2013, a Wayne County one car accident resulted in the death of a 17 year-old high school student. According to the Pocono Record, the teenager was driving at 3:15 a.m. in Palmyra Township when he lost control of a 1998 Audi. The car went up an embankment, rolled over several times and came to rest on its side. The fatal car crash victim was a junior firefighter with a Hawley area fire department.
