A March 26, 2012 pit bull attack in Upper Darby PA resulted in the death of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. As described in The Delco Times, 2 blue pit bulls were roaming loose in the Highland Park Section of Upper Darby when they attacked the spaniel in its own backyard. The small dog was taken to the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital in Pennsylvania where it died from its wounds.
Upper Darby police say that the pit bull owners were not home when their dogs got loose. The pit bulls are under a 10 day quarantine. The owner will be charged with several PA Dog Law violations for failure to confine and harboring dangerous dogs as the 2 pit bulls charged at an officer who responded to the pit bull attack.
