On April 7, 2013, abcnews.com reported that Riverside CA government officials were considering a dog law that would require owners of all adult pit bulls and pit bull mixes to have their dogs neutered/spayed.  Breeders properly registered with the state would be exempt.

PIT BULL RUNNINGThere is significant veterinary research which establishes that dogs that are neutered/spayed are less likely to seek to run loose in the community.  “Altered dogs” also tend to be less aggressive.  Attorney Thomas Newell urges Pennsylvania lawmakers to consider a similar provision in order to protect public safety.
