On June 22, 2011, a Schuylkill County home was left bloodied after a vicious dog bite attack by a family’s own pit bull. According to wnep.com, the pit bull seriously injured a 13 year-old girl who was medevaced to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Two other younger children received care at Schuylkill Medical Center.

When police came to the scene, they tried to rescue the teenager by tasering the pit bull 3 times. The taser seemed to have no impact on the pit bull. Ultimately, the police shot and killed the pit bull to stop this unprovoked dog attack. Allegedly the pit bull had previously bitten a family member and was routinely chained in the backyard.
