I-81 Accident Shuts Down Interstate in Schuylkill County

On Sept. 21, 2011, a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County shut down a portion of the highway for 4 hours. According to The Morning Call, traffic had slowed down on I-81 in Delano Township. Vision was obscured for all drivers due to some fog.

A dump truck driver was traveling too fast for conditions and saw that he would be unable to bring his vehicle to a stop without causing an I-81 accident. He, therefore, swerved onto a grassy median where the truck rolled over. The driver was taken by ambulance to Miners Memorial Hospital.
