On May 6, 2014, PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schock met with motorcycle rider groups and trainers to celebrate Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. He noted that there were 181 motorcycle accident deaths in 2013 – 29 fewer than in 2012. The number of licensed motorcyclists jumped by nearly 6,000 riders during those 12 months.
