On July 29, 2010, a Pike County PA rider was killed by a drunk driver on Route 209 in Marshalls Creek.  According to the Pocono Record, the Dingmans Ferry rider was involved in a motorcycle  accident that resulted in him and a female passenger being ejected onto the Rt. 209 roadway.  A passerby stopped to help them.

It was then that a drunk driver from Henryville, PA drove thru the wreckage of the first crash.  The car hit the cycle rider, as well as the Good Samaritan.  The rider was killed and the passerby suffered a compound leg fracture.  The Poconos motorcycle rider was a decorated Iraqi war veteran and had recently re-enlisted for 10 more years with the United States Army Reserves.
