On Jan. 25, 2012, a 9 year-old Oil City PA boy was viciously attacked by his family’s pit bull inside his own bedroom. According to, the young boy was getting dressed for school when the pit bull jumped up and bit him on the face causing severe injuries. Police said the 9 year-old was bitten several times in the unprovoked attack.

The Venango County pit bull attack victim was first taken to UPMC Northwest in Seneca, Cranberry Township. The nine year old was later transferred to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Sadly, this is yet another example of this vicious breed of dog turning on a family member.
