Westmoreland County Pit Bull Attack Results in Severe Facial Injuries to Boy

On Nov. 18, 2011, a 5 year-old boy suffered severe injuries after a vicious pit bull attacked him in Herminie PA. According to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Westmoreland County pit bull attack victim was playing on this front lawn when a pit bull that was running loose in the community savagely bit him all over the face.

His father and grandfather tried to pull the pit bull off him but were only successful after they hit it several times with a rock. The pit bull did not have any ID tags on it or any way of identifying it or its owner. So far, no dog owner has come forward.

The PA dog attack victim was medevaced to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC where he was operated on. It is anticipated that numerous surgeries may be needed to repair his facial wounds.
